This is the fifth kit intended to detail the Revell Shuttle Launch Tower kit (either #4910 or #4911) as it existed in the early part of the Shuttle program. This kit provides platforms, stairs, walkways and other small details for the Rotating Service Structure (RSS). The resin parts are solid, with crisp details, a smooth surface finish and no visible air holes. All parts are still attached to their pour plugs. The long pipes in my kit each have a seam that will need to be removed. They are also a bit warped and will need to be reshaped in some warm water. The trucks also have seams that must be removed. Most of the parts in the kit are photoetched Many of them are quite delicate and will need care in handling. The brass rod and styrene stock are to be cut to length to provide additional details. The CD-ROM includes the instructions in PDF format (which can be downloaded from the LVM Studios web site), which consist of profusely illustrated assembly steps, showing just how to bend the photoetched parts and how to adapt them into the Revell kit. Resin parts are identified by shape in the instructions, while the photoetched parts are identified by part numbers etched onto the sheets. Other files on the CD-ROM include a handful of low resolution photos showing the prototype model and some photos of the Real Thing (a few of them are in high resolution) to use as references.
