Manufacturer: Sharkit
Scale: 1:72
Kit contents: 9 resin pieces
6 vacuformed parts
plastic tube
Comments: This kit is part of a series of releases from Sharkit to depict Werner von Braun's 1969 proposed Mars exploration vehicle. This is the NERVA nuclear rocket engine designed to propel the interplanetary spaceship to and from Mars. The resin pieces have some minor molding gunges that will require some filling, along with some minor flash at the mold lines. The thruster nozzles on my sample each had a large air bubble hole that will require some care in filling. The parts will also have to have their pour plugs removed. The vacuformed pieces are mostly smooth, but the main nozzle has some dimpling on the exterior that will require filling. The instruction sheet consists of an assembled drawing with each part called out by name and number. Color information is also included for each part. In addition, detailed drawings for assembling the pressurized tanks using the vacuformed tank halves, wire and tubing are also included. This kit is intended to be mated to the Mars One Hydrogen Tank kit to form a major portion of the Mars vehicle.
