This kit is meant to be used with any Airfix Saturn-1B kit to represent SA-203, the first orbital test version of the Saturn 1B. It includes a replacement nose cone, replacement fins and first stage engines, and lots of detail bits to make an accurate model. The resin parts are solid, with a smooth surface finish and no visible airholes. The details are crisply molded and the first stage engines are hollowed out. All parts are still attached to their pour plugs. Part numbers are molded into the pour stubs for the smaller parts, making for easy identification. Part numbers are also etched next to the parts on the photoetched sheets. Decals provide the mission specific markings. The instructions include a short program history, a list of references and multiple step assembly drawings showing where the New Ware parts are to be used. The steps are broken down into stages: nose cone, second stage and interstage, and first stage, with wraparound drawings providing part and decal locations. Detailed inset drawings provide additional assembly help. You'll need to do a bit of surgery on the Airfix parts, particularly on the first stage thrust section.
