Apollo Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) . . Apollo Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU).  The EMU consisted of the intravehicular suit, called the Pressure Garment Assembly, plus several pieces of equipment added to it to adapt it for use on the lunar surface.  These were such things as the PLSS backpack, the gold visor helmet (LEVA), and special gloves and boots, among others. .
