| This is a view from the inside of the forward bomb bay cutout ahead of the wing carry-thru structure. The "I" beams went across and the support hydraulics ram block provided downward force to the X-1. Glide tests proved that this wasn't necessary as the X-1 just naturally fell out of the B-29.
