Surveyor

This is a detail view of the main instrument portion of the spacecraft. The soil sampling scoop is on the end of the blue telescoping arm extending below the bottom of the photo. The alpha scattering instrument is the golden box in the center of the photo. The only spacecraft to carry both instruments was Surveyor 7 which landed near the crater Tycho.
