This conversion set is meant to be combined with the Special Hobby 1/48 scale X-15A-2 kit to depict a proposed method of launching a 150 pound satellite into orbit. The kit contains parts to represent the Blue Scout and its launch pylon, along with a replacement canopy (the clear sheet is to be cut to provide the windows) and tail section parts to retrofit the X-15A-2 model back to the original configuration. The resin parts are finely cast with some flash but no visible air holes. The instruction sheet details which Special Hobby steps to follow and where to make the modifications to backdate the X-15. Both text and graphical steps are included, along with a four view painting and decaling guide. A short program history of the proposed vehicle completes the instruction sheet.
