Quick Looks

Manufacturer: Planet Models
Name: Douglas X-3
Scale: 1:72
Kit contents: 29 resin pieces
1 vacuform piece
decals
instructions
Comments: The resin parts are molded with slightly soft details and recessed panel and control surface lines. There are no visible pinholes on the main parts, but there are some on the smaller parts. The smaller parts are still in their pouring wafers, but the wafers are very thin and peel off easily. The fuselage is cast as two hollow halves: the mating surfaces will have to be sanded flat. The pour plugs for the fuselage halves are on the nose, so you'll have to be careful removing them while keeping the proper cross-section. The cockpit windscreens (I hesitate to call it a canopy on the X-3...) must be cut from a clear vacuformed piece. The decal sheet includes US AIR FORCE insignia, X-3, stripes, and camera target markings, but no NACA markings. The instruction sheet includes a short program history in English and Czech, a three view drawing that serves as a painting and decal guide, and exploded assembly drawings.
