1997 IPMS/USA National Convention
Janos Prohaska flew the PZL-50A Jastzrab ('hawk') against the
Nazi invaders of Poland in 1939. His fighter earned him the nickname
Blackhawk, which he later gave to his team. This was the first
aircraft to bear the insignia of a hawk's head in a circle that would
become the Blackhawk emblem.
