Manned launch vehicle models

Glenn used a number of kits to depict this 1/144 scale display of manned launch vehicles. From left to right:
  • Mercury Redstone (RealSpace Models)
  • Mercury Atlas (RealSpace Models) - used BareMetal foil to cover main body of vehicle
  • Gemini Titan (RealSpace Models) - used both chrome and matte BareMetal foil on main body
  • Vostok (Apex) - scratchbuilt a new Vostok spacecraft from Plexiglas sphere covered with BareMetal foil
  • Voskhod (Apex) - scratchbuilt Plexiglas upper stage to convert kit to Voskhod launcher
  • Soyuz (Apex) - scratchbuilt complete upper stage from Plexiglas and styrene to convert kit to Soyuz launcher
  • Saturn 1B (Airfix) - replaced kit part on first stage with styrene tubes, used RealSpace Models resin conversion for lunar module adapter section and Command/Service Modules
  • Saturn V (Monogram) - used RealSpace Models resin conversion for lunar module adapter section and Command/Service Modules
  • Space Shuttle Endeavour (Revell) - simulated the foam insulation on the External Tank with automotive trunk interior speckle paint, added foam insulation to bottoms of Solid Rocket Boosters, used masking tape for texture of Thermal Protction Coverings on Orbiter, added detail to main engines and cannibalized decals to spell Endeavor. Note scale figures on display base.
