David scratchbuilt this beauty for Alan Bean, the fourth man to walk on the moon. He's the one inspecting the model in the bottom photo. A 1/48 scale Monogram LM sits below David's model in the top photo, just to give a size comparison. David used just about everything to make his model: lucite, fiberglass, wood, brass, composite, resin, and aluminum, among other materials. The gold insulation is several thicknesses of real Kapton, just like on the real LM.
