Gemini 3
Virgil "Gus" Grissom and John Young flew the first piloted Gemini mission on
March 23, 1965. It was the first manned mission that changed its
orbit (other than for re-entry), demonstrating a necessary component of
orbital rendezvous. Gemini 3 splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean
after completing three orbits.
