The parts have some pinholes that will have to be filled, otherwise
the castings are very good with minimal flash and fine details. The
instructions are clear, with text, drawings, detailed views, and a
painting guide. They also point out a minor flaw in one of the second
stage engine locating holes: a nice touch (the reminder, that is).
They also provide hints on when to paint the various subassemblies.
The wire included in the kit is to be formed into a bunch of tiny EVA
handles to the exterior of the Mir core (a job that looks tedious, but
is a nice detail). The wire is also to be used to represent the
external tank hold-down straps and can be used to replace the molded
fuel pipes on the first stage engine. My kit had some extra engine
bells for both the first and second stages. The photoetched trusswork
between the first and second stage make this an improvement over the
earlier Rho Models Proton releases.
