This is an early casting of the kit. Current castings
will not have any pinholes.
The main rocket body consists of the styrene tube. The fins are a
little thick, but are easily sanded down. The escape tower is modeled
with a photoetched part. The instruction sheet contains exploded
drawings and a painting guide. There is also a wonderful page of
drawings by David Weeks that provides enough detail to keep
superdetailers busy for a decade! The kit bag also contains a photo
of the completed kit to help as a painting guide.
Addendum: The kit now includes a launch pad consisting of 20 resin parts. The parts in my sample are nicely molded with crisp details. The smallest parts have some flash that will need cleaning up. The launch deflector in my sample has a bit of molding gunges that need sanding off. The instructions consist of a couple of easily understood exploded assembly drawings. I lost one of the cross support parts in my sample, but I think I'll end up using segments of plastic rod instead of the resin bits if I ever get around to building it.
Note: Many of the parts have been upgraded with more detail. See the Upgrades page for more information.
