Quick Looks

Manufacturer: RealSpace Models
Name: Magellan
Scale: 1:24
Kit contents: 48 resin pieces
1 vacuformed part
2 Plastruct sheets
metal wire
plastic rod
square plastic tubing
Comments: The resin parts are very crisply molded with no visible airholes. They are still attached to their pour plugs which must be removed before assembly. The texture of the insulating blankets has been nicely molded in place on the main spacecraft parts. The main antenna is represented by a nicely vacuformed piece. Location dimples show where the supports are to be attached, along with a piece that must be removed for the unused sun sensor window (the antenna was the backup antenna for Voyager). Plastic rod is supplied to cut to template lengths for the thruster supports. Plastruct sheet provides a nice representation of the solar arrays of Magellan. The wire is to be bent into shape for the antenna support. Foil is also provided to be cut into strips to represent cabling, as does the solder. The instructions are graphically based, with text callouts for painting and detail where needed. You'll need to find more reference material, however, to find out where all the foil strips should go: it's not terribly clear to me where it should all go, but the boxtop photo should help some.
