The resin parts are superbly molded with no evident pinholes. The Atlas body is a solid chunk o'resin with a very smooth surface finish. The booster part has crisply molded corrugations and rivet detail molded into the shrouds. The engine bells are hollow and the turbine exhaust piece is nicely detailed. The capsule adapter is hollow to accept the Mercury capsule's molded-in retropack. The exterior of the adapter has crisp corrugations: the interior's base is domed to represent the top of the booster. The capsule's exterior is textured to suggest the corrugated surface. The photoetched parts are used for the retropack straps and for the escape tower. The instruction sheet includes an exploded drawing for the capsule subassembly, an insert detail for folding the tower part, an exploded drawing for the main assembly and a graphical painting and decaling guide. The waterslide decals include the black UNITED STATES for the Atlas, the white UNITED STATES and American Flags for the capsule and markings to represent John Glenn's Mercury Atlas. A photo of the completed model on the box, a resin base and photoetched plaque finish out the kit.
